Hey everybody. Casey here and I just wanted to welcome you to the forums.

Please feel free to create an account and introduce yourself here. Tell us why you’re in screen printing or want to be.
If you have a print shop, show it off with pictures or link to your shop’s website.

Honestly you can talk about any random thing you want in these forums and its all good. We can talk about art, design, printing, astrology. Who cares.

The only thing I ask is that you don’t give beginners a hard time since this is a site about LEARNING how to screen print. If you are being overly idiotic we will probably give you a hard time though. Please do not use hate speech or your comments will be deleted and you may be blocked forever.

      Thanks guys! Happy printing!!

What’s up everyone! I am TommyTees from So Cal. I have been in the printing industry for close to 20 years. Starting at the bottom and have paid dues everyday. I have learned so much along the way and continue to learn something new on the daily. I am always looking to better my understanding of every aspect of screen printing. I may have some tips/tricks to share, but am definitely here to learn more. I cant get enough of this industry.
I started in my garage at my Mom’s house with zero knowledge and a set of poorly written instructions with a friend of mine. We had bought a completely frustrating and bare bones starter kit and we thought we were ready to create awesomeness. Soon to find out that we were in way over our heads. But we made baby steps. There was no Youtube. No forums to join, and we were on our own. We soon realized that we should get jobs at a REAL screen shop to learn. And we did. We were introduced to completely new ideas and concepts that real screen printers knew at the placed we got hired. I went on to work at a few different shops gaining different ways of doing things from different perspectives. I then landed a great job printing for a startup company that we grew into a pretty successful operation. This lasted for 8 years. Then the economy tanked. My boss wanted nothing to do with the printing industry and sold me all of the equipment for better than a smoking deal! I was now on my own with 2 6/4’s and a 6 color M&r auto. Now I am paying all the bills and have the burden of getting enough work to keep the lights on and try to make money for my family. Again way in over my head uggggghh. I now know how to print and do a damn good job at simple art and seps but running a business and getting jobs were never my in my job description. So I had lots to learn. I really gave it my best but the overhead became unbearable. So Hear I am,I sold the all the big equipment and bought a real nice 8/4 and a killer little dryer and am now back in my garage with a lot less on my shoulders. It all seams much easier to handle. I am continuing on my journey and here to learn as much as I can.

Hey Tommy!!! Great to have you in the forums! It is awesome to hear from someone who has a lot of years in the industry! Your journey sounds like a crazy one but amazing. I think getting thwon into the mix is how most people end up in screen printing and I’m glad to hear you’re making the most of it and succeeding.

Would love to see some pics of your garage set up and see how you run your day to day doing it at home. Thanks again for signing up and welcome!!!
