I’m getting ready to print my first t-shirts and have a million questions….but I’ll start with the first one! I am printing red ink on a medium gray Next Level ti-blend t-shirt. Can anyone tell me, in detail, the pros and cons between using water based ink or plastisol? I have the general idea that the water based ink can dry in your screen quickly, so basically looking for a recommendation of what I should start with. I am going for a relaxed, comfy almost “vintage” looking shirt, if that makes a difference. Please help!

Also, is there any brand better than another? Or specs I should look for when purchasing? Thanks in advance for any and all help!!

I would say that the most important part of a vintage/comfy shirt is how the ink feels on the shirt. Plastisol is thicker and will not be as good at giving you that soft vintage worn-in feel. Waterbased or discharge ink will blend in nicely with the material and give you the look and feel that you are going for.

BUT plastisol is a lot more forgiving when you’re a beginner and pretty much will never dry out in your screen. You’ll have to be a lot quicker when printing with waterbased.

I’m not as sure on what brands/specs to look out for. Maybe you could post your question on our facebook group for that answer?

Depending on the type of clothe, water base ink and Plastisol actually provides great prints. Just using both of these for just ordinary campaign t-shirts, but all were made through Digitek Print shop http://www.digitekprinting.com/.
